Baker County has been awarded an $800,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department for the construction of a new drug and alcohol rehab facility known as Recovery Village. The grant will allow New Direction Northwest to build a new facility for the treatment of up to 15 parents and children to deal with addictions and other related issues.
The CDBG grant along with capital from New Directions Northwest will allow the construction of a 12,500 sq. ft single level facility. The new facility will be located near St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and New Directions Baker House.
Treatment for these families is based on a holistic recovery model emphasizing evidence based practices enhanced with education about childhood development, parenting skills, life skills and other family programs. Recovery Village has treated over 600 families in the past and the new facility will allow for new treatment in the future.
