Subject Title:
05/18/2022 Baker ASA Ambulance Service
Release Date: 5/18/2022 Baker ASA Ambulance Service On May 17th, 2022, Baker City Fire Department notified Baker County that due to staffing levels they are not able to maintain the existing levels of service to the Baker Ambulance Service Area. Specifically, Baker City Fire Department will not be able to respond to double or triple calls. In order to ensure that the citizens of Baker County continue to have reliable emergency transport services, Baker County is working with mutual aid partners and private ambulance service providers for coverage of second and third emergency calls. On March 22, 2022, Baker City provided notice to Baker County that the City intends to end ambulance services on September 30, 2022. In order to ensure continued coverage of this vital service, Baker County has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) from potential ambulance service providers for the Baker and Huntington Ambulance Service Areas (ASAs). Baker County is dedicated to selecting an ambulance provider, based on criteria outlined in the RFP, which can offer sustainable services to the citizens in the Baker and Huntington ASAs. Any citizen interested in serving on the Ambulance Service Provider Evaluation Committee can contact Heidi Martin at (541) 523-8200 or hmartin@bakercounty.org.
